The best MCP servers for AEO in 2026

The best MCP servers for AEO in 2026 are supereo, Profound[1], AthenaHQ[2], Scrunch[3], Writesonic[4], Peec AI[5], Otterly[6], Rankscale[7] and Ahrefs[8]. An MCP server connects an AI app like Claude or ChatGPT to a tool's data and functions[9]. supereo is our pick, and we make it: its MCP server carries the tools supereo's own agent uses to do the work, and more, and the real runs below show them reading the open web: what each AI crawler may read, a page as a crawler sees it, and its score against the pages AI engines cite. Five of the nine tools here say on their own pages that they do the work beyond tracking: supereo, Writesonic, Scrunch, AthenaHQ and Profound. supereo is the only one that says it proves each change against control questions. Published paid plans start at $17 a month, billed annually (Rankscale, Essentials).

  • Does the work: it changes the site, writes pages or places the brand itself, beyond tracking, reporting and recommending.
  • Proves it against controls: it measures each change against control questions, or a held-out group, the change could not move.
  • Runs from Claude or ChatGPT: Claude or ChatGPT can run it over MCP.
  • Free audit: anyone can run an audit with it without paying or starting a trial.
  • Yes means the tool's own page says it, quoted under each tool below; a dash means none of the pages we read says it.

      "playbook": "# Crawler fix (crawler_rules)\n\nAn AI engine can only cite a page its crawler may read. The work item names the crawlers and the paths, from its evidence: a robots.txt rule that blocks them, or no rule that lets them in. The AI crawlers supereo writes rules for: GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User (OpenAI), ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User (Anthropic), PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User (Perplexity). This fix never writes a rule for a search engine's crawler (Googlebot, Bingbot and the rest), and never changes the `User-agent: *` group, which search engines read.\n\n## 1. Find the file the site serves\n\n- get_work_item's fence names the robots.txt you may change (public/robots.txt in Next.js and Astro). When the fence notes that code writes robots.txt instead (app/robots.ts, an Astro endpoint), a content change can't fix it: write why in plan.md, propose the code change with propose_fix, and hand the item back with hand_back.\n- fetch_as_bot the live robots.txt as one of the work item's crawlers. Compare it with the repo's file: a host or a proxy can serve something else, and the plan file says which you saw.\n\n## 2. Work out what each crawler reads today\n\nA crawler follows the one group that names it most specifically: its own `User-agent:` line if one exists, else `User-agent: *`. Within a group, the longest matching path rule wins, and Allow wins a tie. Write down, for each crawler the work item names, which group it follows today and whether each path the item names is allowed.\n\n- A work item that asks to **let crawlers in**, when every one is already allowed: the robots.txt isn't the cause. Say so in plan.md and report_progress, propose what to check instead (a firewall or a host's bot setting) with propose_fix, and hand the item back.\n- A work item that asks to **name crawlers explicitly**, each with a group of its own, is written even when `*` allows them today: an explicit group is one a later rule for `*` can't take away, and it says plainly which AI crawlers the site welcomes.\n\n## 3. Write the rules\n\n- Add one group for the crawlers the work item names (their `User-agent:` lines together), with an `Allow:` line for each path it names (`Allow: /` when it names the whole site), after the existing groups, with a one-line comment above it saying what it's for.\n- When a crawler already has its own group, change that group's lines only as far as the work item asks.\n- Keep every other line exactly as it is: the `*` group, every search engine's group, every `Sitemap:` line, comments and blank lines. A search engine's crawler must read exactly what it read before.\n- Only plain lines: `User-agent:`, `Allow:`, `Disallow:`, `# comment`, blank lines.\n\n## 4. Check it\n\n- Read the file as each crawler would, again, after your change: each crawler the item names reaches each path it names; Googlebot, Bingbot and the `*` group read exactly as before. Write both readings in plan.md.\n- Run the repo's build where it runs, so the file still ships (a robots.txt in public/ is copied as it is).\n\n## 5. Deliver\n\nfix.patch (the robots.txt change only), after/<path to robots.txt>, plan.md with both readings, and sources.md saying the change adds no number. Then end your turn for the grader."
    }
  ]
}

Trimmed: the playbook's rubric and the list of the other fix types.

Each call reads the open web as it stood: what robots.txt and llms.txt let each AI crawler read, the About page's signals as a crawler without JavaScript gets them, the same page scored against the pages AI engines cite, and the playbook supereo's own engineer follows to write a crawler fix.

What an AEO MCP server does

MCP is an open standard for connecting AI apps to outside systems[9], and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and many other clients support it[10]. An AEO tool's MCP server puts that tool's data and functions inside the chat.

What matters is what those functions reach. Peec AI's connects Claude and ChatGPT to your Peec AI data[5], AthenaHQ's lets an assistant query your AI search visibility data[2], Scrunch's queries your brand monitoring data[3], Rankscale's answers questions about your brand's AI search visibility[7] and Writesonic's answers from the same data its dashboard shows[4].

supereo's MCP server carries the tools supereo's own agent uses, such as fetch_as_bot and get_page_diagnosis, and more. Its live tools read the open web as it is now: what each AI crawler may read, a page as a crawler without JavaScript gets it, and how that page scores against the pages AI engines cite. Its other tools reach your audits, your tracked questions and tests, and the changes supereo's agent recommends.

How to connect an AEO MCP server

In Claude Code, add a remote server over HTTP, the transport its docs recommend[11], then run /mcp to sign in[12]. For supereo that is one line: claude mcp add --transport http supereo https://supereo.app/api/mcp

In Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste the same URL. In ChatGPT on the web, add it under Plugins as a custom MCP server, with OAuth for authentication.

Each tool below links its own pages, its MCP page among them where it has one.

How to choose

If you already pay for a tracker and want its numbers in the chat, use that tool's own server.

If you want Claude or ChatGPT to do AEO work, not only report it, pick a server whose tools reach the open web and your site, and that can prove what a change did. That is the job supereo's is built for: run the free audit, then connect it.

Questions

What is the best MCP server for AEO?

supereo, Profound[1], AthenaHQ[2], Scrunch[3], Writesonic[4], Peec AI[5], Otterly[6], Rankscale[7] and Ahrefs[8], by what their own pages say. supereo is our pick if you want AEO done from Claude or ChatGPT: its MCP server has the same tools its own agent uses, and the real runs above show them.

What can an AEO MCP server do?

It depends on its tools. Several answer from the data their dashboard holds[5][4]. supereo's also reads the open web now, scores pages against the pages AI engines cite, and gives a change you register as a test its verdict against control questions.

Does Claude Code support remote MCP servers?

Yes. Claude Code connects to tools and data sources over MCP[13], recommends HTTP for remote servers[11] and signs in to them from /mcp[12].

Is supereo's MCP server free?

Its free tools work on any account: check_ai_access, fetch_as_bot, audit_page and get_fix_playbook. The paid ones, which ask AI engines and read pages in full, run on a plan.

Is the run on this page real?

Yes. Each call is a real call to supereo's MCP server on its staging environment, with the arguments as sent and the answer as received, trimmed where it says so, timed and dated.

How we compiled this

Every price, prompt cap and AI engine on this page comes from each tool's own pricing page, and every capability from the tool's own product pages, docs and free tools. supereo reads them every week and keeps a value only when the page states it word for word; each tool on this page names the page and the day it was last checked.

Prices are US dollars a month on monthly billing, or the monthly price of an annual plan where that is the only price the page states, marked billed annually. A free trial is not a free plan, and custom pricing is a price the page does not publish. A tool sold only as part of a bigger product says so beside its prices.

Yes means the tool's own page says it, in the words quoted under each tool. A dash means none of the pages we read says it, so the tool may still do it without saying so there.

We make supereo, so it is listed first, as our pick. The other tools follow by how many of the four jobs their own pages claim, then by price.

Where this page's words state something the dataset doesn't hold, such as a change a tool made, the sentence links its source and the day it was read.

How supereo measures its own results, with every number it runs on: How supereo measures.

The runs are real calls to supereo's MCP server on its staging environment, made as a house account, recorded as they happened: the arguments as sent, each answer as the client received it, its JSON indented and trimmed only where it says so, the time each call took and when it ran.

supereo (supereo.app) is an AI agent that does everything it takes to get your brand recommended by ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google, on your site and off it: site fixes, new pages, roundups, placements and video. It proves what worked against control questions. Made by superagnt.
